The lake, just a few-minutes drive from the cabin, is 9 miles long, with a shore line of 32 miles, encompassing an area of 3500 acres. 
 
There are state parks with BBQ's, swimming areas, boat launches and docks. Some of the best ski areas in Oregon are located near Detroit - Hoodoo Ski Area (39 miles) and Mt. Bachelor (90 miles). Black Butte Ranch (44 miles).

Winter is the most peaceful time to stay here. The summer crowds are gone and the town is quiet. If you prefer total solitude, enjoy a good book by the fire or lounge in the hot tub as snow falls around you.
